The Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences and the Ruđer Bošković Institute from the Republic of Croatia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation, opening a new chapter in the partnership between two distinguished research institutions in the region.

2

The agreement was signed by Dr Slavko Dimović, Director of the Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences, and Dr David Matthew Smith, Director of the Ruđer Bošković Institute. The document establishes a framework for enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual scientific, professional, and developmental interest, with a particular focus on the exchange of knowledge and experience, the linking of research capacities, the development of joint initiatives, and the strengthening of human resources.

3

The cooperation between the two institutes represents an important step towards further strengthening regional scientific ties, as well as creating opportunities for more intensive communication, the exchange of information and experience, and participation in projects that can contribute to the development of national and international science, technology, and innovation, including the establishment of joint laboratories and centres.

4

As part of the meeting, the directors of the two institutions planted a magnolia tree as a symbol of professional and friendly cooperation. This gesture represents a sign of trust, continuity, and a shared commitment to fostering long-term partnership relations based on mutual respect and common values.

The Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences recognises such agreements as an important contribution to strengthening international and regional cooperation, particularly in fields that require a multidisciplinary approach, high research standards, and openness to joint development. We are confident that the new partnership with the Ruđer Bošković Institute will contribute to further networking, development, and the creation of new opportunities for both institutions.
