On September 25, the Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences once again opened its doors to primary and secondary school students as part of European Researchers’ Night, held under the slogan One Heart for Science.
The event offered young visitors an exciting opportunity to explore the fascinating world of science firsthand.
Among the visitors were students and teachers from the primary schools “Despot Stefan Lazarević,” “Ujedinjene nacije,” “Vasa Pelagić,” and “Karađorđe,” as well as students from Grocka High School and the Sixth Belgrade Gymnasium.
Throughout the event, students had the opportunity to meet researchers, learn about their daily work, and take part in engaging scientific demonstrations and experiments.
Through interactive activities, hands-on demonstrations, and lively discussions, the Institute’s researchers introduced young visitors to various fields of science, answered their many questions, and demonstrated that science extends far beyond textbooks and laboratories. It is a world of curiosity, exploration, creativity, and discovery.
The students were welcomed by the Institute’s Director, who emphasized the importance of making science accessible to young people, fostering their curiosity and interest in research, and encouraging future generations to explore the opportunities that science offers for their education and professional development.
One of the highlights of the programme was a visit to the Laboratory of Nuclear and Plasma Physics, where students learned about its research activities and had the opportunity to tour the FAMA facility. Exploring the Institute’s research infrastructure and meeting its scientists gave the visitors a unique insight into scientific research at one of Serbia’s largest research institutes.
Filled with questions, smiles, fascinating experiments, and new discoveries, this year’s Researchers’ Night gathering once again highlighted the importance of bringing science closer to young people.
Students left Vinča with new knowledge and memorable experiences, and perhaps, for some of them, the visit sparked an interest that may one day lead them to explore the world of scientific research themselves.
After all, every great scientific journey begins with curiosity, a question, and the desire to discover something new.
The Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences would like to express its special gratitude to Coca-Cola HBC Serbia and Radmilovac Restaurant for their generous support and for providing refreshments, helping to make the event an even more enjoyable and memorable experience for our young guests.
