The pre-event, held on September 22nd, gathered more than 220 students from four high schools and one elementary school, all of whom had the opportunity to participate in a series of interactive experiments, workshops, and direct discussions with researchers.

The festival zone adjacent to the pool served as the central hub of the event. Visitors were able to discover how natural filters purify water with the aid of sunlight, explore the application of nanomaterials and graphene oxide, and learn how coffee can become a valuable ingredient in cosmetics.

Great attention was also drawn to the photo booth for young scientists, where the youngest visitors, dressed in lab coats and protective gear, could take pictures as real researchers and take home a unique souvenir from this scientific day.

The second location, the CBRN Platform (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear), was dedicated to safety and protection in the event of CBRN incidents. Through mini-experiments, visitors had the chance to try their hand at being investigators and learn how to protect people and evidence in crisis situations. The Centre for Continuous Education presented a lecture on natural and artificial sources of radiation, while first responders showcased their specialized equipment and response methods.

The pre-event at Vinča once again demonstrated that science is not reserved only for laboratories; it can be accessible, engaging, and available to everyone.
