On Friday, 24 April 2026, preschool children from the “Istok” kindergarten, part of the “11 April” Preschool Institution in New Belgrade, visited the Laboratory for Molecular Biology and Endocrinology (090) at the Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences.
The visit was organised in cooperation with Dr Iva Lukić and Dr Mojica Stojiljković, senior research associates at the Vinča Institute, with the aim of introducing the youngest visitors to basic concepts in biology and laboratory work in an engaging and age-appropriate way.
During their time in the laboratory, the children had the opportunity to become familiar with part of the research environment, basic laboratory procedures, and examples of experiments carried out as part of scientific work. The activities that particularly captured their interest included preparing and pipetting solutions on their own, observing cells under a microscope, and watching the behaviour of laboratory mice.
Visits of this kind are an important form of science popularisation and encourage curiosity in children from an early age. As a leading research institution, the Vinča Institute continuously supports activities that help bring science closer to young people and foster interest in research work, experiments, and the natural sciences.
