The long-standing and successful international scientific collaboration between researchers from the Department of Materials Science and the Centre of Excellence CEXTREME LAB of the Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences and distinguished scientists from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) in Chennai, India, has been conducted through joint projects, research activities, and the organisation of international scientific events. In 2026, this cooperation culminated in the publication of a jointly developed, internationally recognised patent classified under category M91.

The outstanding achievements of Dr. Ivana Cvijović-Alagić, Dr. Svetlana Butulija, Dr. Marija Pekajski-Đorđević and Dr. Branko Matović from the Department of Materials Science and the Centre of Excellence CEXTREME LAB of the Vinča Institute, together with their colleagues Dr. Ravi Kumar and Abishek Muthukumar from IIT Madras, were recognised by the Indian Patent Office, which granted a patent for their invention entitled Room Temperature Method of Synthesizing Au–Al Solid Solution.

The international publication of this patent (Patent No. 580777; International Classification: C22C5/02, B22F3/105, B22F9/04, C22C1/02 and C22C1/04) represents significant recognition of the knowledge, expertise and innovative capabilities of our researchers, whose ideas and achievements are acknowledged not only in Serbia but also within the international scientific community.
