In the first week of July, the First Serbian-Chinese Workshop on the Hydrogen Economy was successfully held at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The event was part of a bilateral project, Development of High-Entropy Hydrogen Storage Alloy Materials for Static Compression, led on the Serbian side by Dr. Jasmina Grbović Novaković and on the Chinese side by Dr. Fusheng Yang from Xi'an Jiaotong University (Shanghai, China).
The event gathered high officials, representatives from the scientific community, and business leaders from both countries, with the goal of exploring the potential of hydrogen energy as a key resource for the future.
The visit of the Xi'an Jiaotong University delegation also marked the beginning of the international hydrogen energy laboratory, XJTU–SXQN–VINČA. The laboratory was formed through a collaboration between associates of the Center of Excellence for Hydrogen Energy and Renewable Energy Sources – CONVINCE, the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology at Xi'an Jiaotong University, and the Shanxi Hydrogen Energy Research Institute, Ltd. Associates from the CONVINCE Center, Dr. Jelena Rmuš Mravik, Dr. Željko Mravik, Dr. Nikola Novaković, and Dr. Branislav Stanković, delivered notable lectures on the production and storage of hydrogen and energy.
A related event of the conference was a visit to the HBIS GROUP Serbia – Iron & Steel d.o.o. company in Belgrade, where conference participants from China, Australia, Montenegro, Spain, and Serbia had the opportunity to learn about the possibilities of decarbonization in the steel production sector, as well as opportunities for cooperation with the HBIS company.
