At a time when energy stability is emerging as a key issue, the oldest daily newspaper in our region, Politika, has once again demonstrated its foresight. Through an interview with Dr. Slavko Dimović, Director of the Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences, Politika has courageously reopened a topic that had been in the shadows for decades—nuclear energy as a new perspective for Serbia.

While the public witnesses the global energy crisis and its dilemmas, Politika has not remained silent. Instead, in its recognizable style, it has placed the focus on the work and vision of the scientists from the Vinča Institute. The newspaper's editorial board recognized the importance of the newly formed Commission for Nuclear Energy at the Institute, which brings together 23 eminent experts from various fields. Through its articles, Politika not only informs but also encourages reflection on Serbia's future, stressing that the country "must no longer lose step" with the world.

Politika's move is not merely a newspaper report; it testifies to the publication's commitment to following and promoting topics of national interest. While many had forgotten about Serbia's scientific potential, Politika, in light of new circumstances, found a story about courageous visionaries from Vinča who, seven decades after laying the foundations, are once again building bridges of cooperation with international partners and preparing the ground for an open public debate. Through their stories, Politika reminds us that science is key to prosperity and that once-forgotten dreams, with courage and vision, can once again find their way onto the front pages.
